In 2008 our garden was not as productive as I would have liked due to “bugs”. Therefore, much of the food I was able to preserve came from the farmers market and Whole Foods.

 

What I learned was that drying produce is a good way to store it and using some of the plastic jars with air tight lids was a cheap way to accomplish the storage. I found that during our brief winter that I used spinach, mushrooms, peppers and fruit that I had dried. The dryer was purchased on Craig’s List for $10.00 and has worked well.
