Garden—2007, 2008 , 2009

The garden in 2007 started out very well. I planted green peppers, zucchini, squash, tomatoes, carrots, radishes and a wide variety of herbs. The herb garden (planted in pots) was quite prolific and we were able to use it at least four times per week in salads. The peppers produced right up to the first frost. The tomatoes were modestly successful. However, the lesson is to have a better trellis and to do more pruning. Some of the squash produce one or two pieces but the critters got to them. The melons were good but small. Therefore I consider the first endeavor with earth boxes a modest success.

Lessons—

Pot gardens are wonderful if you have a patio but in a back yard the local varmint population soon finds your garden.

In 2008 I put in raised beds with an electric fence
